We want to thank you for your interest in our dream home. We truly value our guests and want you to feel like family. Our property is unique in many ways and we hope to share our slice of heaven with you in hopes you return with your family for years. We fell in love with NC a few years back and created this oasis for ourselves to come back to for the rest of our lives. One of the important lessons we learned early on in our NC travels was the importance of proximity to town. Our favorite part of our property is that if you’re sitting on the deck you are deep in the woods enjoying singing birds and swaying trees. But if you run out to milk or anything at all you are 8 minutes from a super Walmart. There is fine dining and entertainment within 15-20 minutes in Blowing rock and 25 minutes to Boone.
Let’s start with the property. Our home is nestled at the top of a hill we built with tranquility in mind. The surrendering peaks give you the sensation that you are staying completely “in the woods” while being very close to every earthly comfort. Our home is a 3 bedroom 2 and half bath two story home with natural light as the focus. Windows throughout the home give you views of the surrounding Forrest. The beautiful fireplace will help keep you cozy on those cold winter nights. There are 4 queen beds and one twin bed so that everyone in the family has a comfortable place to rest.
We spared no expense in designing and building our home. All of the appliances and finishes are what we considered our “dream home”. Unlike most rentals, we never considered turning a profit, instead we thought what kind of home would we want to stay in if we had a choice. The wrap around deck gives you a large outdoor space to enjoy during your stay regardless of weather conditions. The deck truly makes the home more magical.
Why Lenoir NC? We came to NC for vacation a few times over the years. We spent time out west near Asheville, out east in Raleigh and all parts in between. We made it out to Lenoir because we realized we loved the mountains but hated the bitter cold. Lenoir is in a region called the foothills of NC. This is where flat land slowly becomes hilly then turning into the large mountains that make up the Appalachian range. Lenoir is situated an hour from Asheville, and hour from Charlotte and 25 minutes from Boone. It’s also 15 minutes to one of our favorite towns, Blowing Rock.
Our home is built on the third hill in the foothills known as Green Mountain. It gets cold but never too cold. It snows, but only a hand full of times a year. It gets hot in the summer but is always cool at night. It’s in a Goldilocks zone where it’s never too hot nor too cold. We absolutely love it and hope you do too!
Our home sits at the foot of Green mountain. Included in your rental is access to a walking path that leads to Moses knob, the summit of the mountain. The road is wide and clearly marked and is ideal fro anyone who wants to explore the woods in a safe and easy manner. The trail straight to the top is 1.7 miles with a moderate incline in a handful of spots. The summit is breathtaking and we hope you can make the hike up there during your stay. Most people take 2 hours up can back for a total of 4 miles, please plan accordingly. To our west, our property adjoins a property called 1000 trails park which you can explore if you are a seasoned hiker. Please ask our host about more details.
When we come to Lenoir, we like to spend most of our time in the woods. We hit our favorite restaurants in nearby Blowing rock and Boone and love the thrift and antique stores. We also plan day trips to Pisgaugh national Forrest or nearby Asheville. We love theme parks and Carowinds near Charlotte is our favorite roller coaster park we have ever been to (great for teens). The long drives in the foothills are such a welcomed change from city driving that we actually enjoy the long drives we experience in seeking what NC has to offer. There is an Ipad on the island with a list of things to do and see.
