Brand new accommodation with contemporary furnishings. Abbots End Lodge provides luxury accommodation in quiet, peaceful surroundings with everything at your fingertips.
The lodge features an open-plan living area, equipped with microwave, fridge, kettle and small utility area with sink, kettle etc. Whilst you can make yourself quick and easy microwave meals, we encourage you to use the local village pubs for proper meals as they are 1/2 mile in either direction.
You will find a very comfortable king-size bed, sofa, TV with access to iPlayer, ITV Hub and other apps available along with a DVD player. A walk-in shower room with separate toilet & wash room, plus you even have your own walk-in wardrobe. The Wifi connection is very good, so it's perfect if you need to do a spot of work too whilst you're there.
We have not provided a cot or high chair currently so if you have a babe-in-arms then you will need to bring your own cradle/cot and bedding with you. The apartment has stairs, so it is not suitable for toddlers.
There are three large velux windows that give uninterrupted views of the surrounding fields, paddock and horses. We are very lucky to have many different birds nesting near us, so it's fun to watch the swallows, blue tits, pied wag-tails, and robins coming and going from the windows.
The lodge is a separate annex building above the barn garage. You'll have your own key to come and go as you please and there is easy off-road parking for one car. We just ask that you take off any muddy shoes outside and where possible keep outdoor shoes off, when inside.
Surrounding Area - Situated 2 minutes from the river Great Ouse, there are many lovely country walks along the river and across the nature reserves. You can hire small boats and rowing boats from nearby Houghton Mill (National Trust), or Hartford Marina and travel up the river. The Lodge is offers very easy access to the Great Ouse and the river meadow is perfect for picnics in the summer by the river's edge.
If you want to cycle or run we can help and give you plenty of options on routes. If swimming, wake boarding or SUP boarding is your thing, there's Lake Ashmore round the corner, where you can hire all the equipment, have lunch and play on the lake for a few hours.
Shops - We have a local village shop which supplies all the food and drinks you could ever need. They even do the COOK range of food if you really want to stay in and use the microwave! Otherwise, Cambridge is up the road and St.Ives is either a 2 mile walk / drive away. It's a very easy walk to St.Ives from here if you wish to walk in.
There's a market held in St.Ives every Monday with a smaller market on Fridays, and a Farmers market on the first and third Saturday of the month. St.Ives has some lovely independent shops and cafes.
Cambridge is a 20 minute journey in the car, or on the guided bus route, which takes you direct from St.Ives into Cambridge town centre. London is accessible easily by train from Huntingdon station, which is now a 7 minute journey. Huntingdon to London is about 50 minutes.
Please note: The lodge is in the eaves so please just be mindful of this if you're over 6ft tall!
