A charming 19th century 2 storey over garden level terraced house of considerable architectural merit that perfectly combines historic Victorian characteristics with distinctive modernity and which is superbly positioned directly overlooking picturesque Belgrave Square in the heart of Dublin 6.
The space
Our beautiful home is of considerable character and charm. Having received a complete makeover in recent times, it really does emanate the beauty of both old and new and how well they work combined together. The house has a south west orientation and gets sunlight into the back garden virtually all day long in the summer months. A large extension with floor to ceiling glass doors was added to the kitchen of the house on the lower ground floor during its renovation. This, together with the glass roofing in the centre of the kitchen gives the room the effect of being outside and, when the doors are fully opened, the patio becomes a natural extension to the kitchen. Anthony has a real love for his garden and the vista that he has created will blow any guest away. The garden has a large patio area where we keep a Weber BBQ and outdoor tables and chairs. We have two young children so the garden is fitted with a lovely wooden tree house, a slide and a set of swings. Whilst the house is located within minutes of the city centre, any guest will be surprised by the peace and tranquillity that they feel when they sit out in the back garden. Also, on the lower ground level, there is a large double bedroom, which we refer to as our library room as it is fitted out with a wall of shelves, which is a lovely feature. The original fireplace remains fitted in the bedroom which now has a gas fire in it. Beside the double bedroom, there is a wet room with a power shower and all mod cons that you would expect from a house of this class. There is also a utility room with washing machine and drier on the lower ground floor. Upstairs on the ground level, there are two interconnecting reception rooms, which overlook the leafy green square. These rooms epitomise a house that is borne out of the Victorian era and, with all the original cornicing and fire places still in situ, one will marvel in the beauty of what is 19th century architecture at its best. The large master bedroom is located on the top floor along with two further bedrooms, one twin room and one single room, which is currently laid out as a nursery but which we set up with a Jay-Be Kingston single folding bed for use by guests who need separate rooms. The large family bathroom is also located at the top of the house, which looks directly into the back garden. There is an extra large bath tub located directly by the window and it is a very nice place to light a candle whilst taking a soak. The master bedroom has a super king size bed and its own ensuite bathroom with a power shower. We would relish the opportunity to open our home up to you and we hope that our little intro to our home entices you to get in touch.
Guest access
Our guests will have access to the whole house. It is our hope that when people come to stay in our home that they will feel as though it is a home away from home. We will supply our guests with all bedding and towels needed for their stay and we also have a double blow up aerosleep bed, which can be used by our guests and which is very comfortable. Our guests are welcome to help themselves to use anything in our kitchen if they are cooking. We will always leave fresh milk, bread and fruit for our guests upon arrival. We can give you a lesson on how to use all of our appliances in our kitchen and around the house in general if you wish but we are only ever a phone call away. There is on street parking located outside the front door of the house and our guests will be supplied with complimentary parking tickets to cover the duration of their entire stay. Please note that, other than during holidays, two night stay requests will only be accepted for Friday and Saturday nights. Otherwise, two night stay requests will automatically be declined.
Other things to note
Anthony and I have three young children, aged 6 months, 3 and 5. As such, any families travelling with children can come to our house in the knowledge that they will not be bored as they will have use of all the toys and games that we have to offer. We can also provide a large cot, travel buggy, travel cot and highchair to our guests that are travelling with young children.
