Set in the beautiful countryside of Swaledale, this period cottage dates from the 1800s and is surrounded by farmland and stunning views from every window. It is so quiet and tranquil in this corner of the village, all you can hear are the birds, the sheep and the Arkle beck which runs nearby. Only a short walk away from the centre of Reeth, guests will find a local village shop, bakery, tea shops, cafés and a popular pub that serves great quality food. There are many public footpaths and cycle paths that lead right from the heart of the village and out beyond into Swaledale, Wensleydale and nearby Arkengarthdale, taking in magnificent views. Castle Bolton, West Burton and Harmby offer weekly farmers’ markets selling local produce and goods. The historic market town of Richmond is just a short drive with its Norman castle, Georgian theatre and quaint cobbled streets, surrounded by a good selection of tea rooms, gift shops and convenience stores. From here you can enjoy a riverside walk to Easby Abbey which lies in picturesque surroundings by the River Swale. Easby is one of the best preserved monasteries of the Premonstratensian ’White Canons’, with the magnificent refectory, gatehouse and canons’ dormitory remaining. The popular market town of Leyburn is 10 miles, where a buzzing market lines the streets every Friday with stallholders selling a wide array of produce. The green rolling hills of Wensleydale lie to the west of Leyburn with many historic, inspiring landmarks. Just 2 miles from Leyburn is Middleham, famous for its racehorses, and castle that was home to Richard III. The North York Moors National Park is within a ½-hour drive, with attractions such as Sutton Bank, where you can take in the breathtaking views, or spend your day strolling around the market towns of Thirsk, Bedale and Northallerton.
